Martine Bedin, dresser, one-off project, Manufacture Familiale

Martine Bedin HD_001
Available
1999

Towards the end of the 1980s, Martine Bedin began to explore ‘specific and unique pieces of furniture unaided by industry’. She also left Italy at around this period to return to the Bordeaux region where she grew up and where ‘a pressing need for architecture’ was evident. The pieces of furniture, designed from then on, assume a very powerful architectural character. The dresser presented here belongs to a private commission for three dressers, all of which we have. This model of dresser is similar to the 1995 Meuble du regard. Playing on a simple but formidably effective idea, the dresser equally reveals and conceals its contents. Produced in solid padauk wood.
