Philippe Starck, Romantica chair, Driade editions

Philippe Starck Romantica_001
Available
1987

Cara Leggera Romantica. Objects might be considered in at least two ways, visually and physically. If we refer to the visual appearance of the Romantica chair, through its rivets it evokes a sense of heaviness, a complex and precise manufacturing process. It calls to mind a metal aircraft wing, sheet metal on a machine. Once it is handled, the Romantica chair turns out to be an incredibly light object. Although it is a radically different style, Romantica is ultimately a true homage to the Leggera chair by Gio Ponti. Aluminium frame and seat assembled with rivets.
