Philippe Starck, Dick Deck chair, Driade edition, coll. Aleph

DSC04145
Available
1989

Dick Deck is part of the Aleph collection for Driade, from the same period as the Jane Paille chairs, where Philippe Starck predominantly used wood. Dick Deck conveys many things, the author Philip K. Dick, a dick (or cock) and a deck (platform, terrace), but the name Dick Deck has very little to do with a sun lounger, unless dick is seen as a pontoon. A formal analogy could be drawn with Romantica, another chair by Philippe Starck. Dick Deck is an appealing, very light chair, without wanting to draw an analogy with Super Leggera, although slightly too narrow to be comfortable. Philippe Starck is in fact traditional, he also uses chairs, perhaps primarily, as a place to lay down his hat.

Height: 91 cm
