Daniel Weil is for us a major designer rooted in his period without replicating or overplaying it. He is undoubtedly one of the first designers to have created objects bordering art and design. The Walter vase belongs to a series of objects, including the Living/Fruit table and the Living room/Flower table, that Weil designed at the boundary of sculpture. A true tribute to cubism, these have no identical faces, necessitating going around them. Like these other objects, the Walter vase uses a mass-market object, here a balloon wine glass.
