Gianfranco Frattini is one of Italy’s top designers. His luminaire work remains relatively little known other than the famous Boalum designed with Livio Castiglioni in 1970. Model 597 for Arteluce endeavours to examine the lampshade well before Boalum. Here it is indeed a decorative element, the fringe of a traditional lampshade becomes the lampshade.
