Even if Philippe Starck states that comfort is not a priority for certain models, for example Pat Conley 1 and Dr Sonderbar, it is a different story with Lila Hunter chairs. Indeed, from among the chairs by Philippe Starck, Lila Hunter is one of the most comfortable, or even the most comfortable. Designed in 1988 with a wooden back, this rare version of the chair is like other projects that we know and love a strange object; the structure belongs to the 1980s and the materials such as fibreglass and PVC bands to the 1950s, a period during which they were developed by the furniture industry. Who can forget the infamous Charles and Ray Eames chairs and the André Dupré chair for Knoll in 1948, among the very first to use PVC bands. Lila Hunter chairs seem quite ambiguous; they are timeless yet perfectly ergonomic and usable, that can, in addition, be stacked.
