Philippe Starck, Wendy Wright chair for Disform

Starck Wendy Wright HD_001
Available
1986

You either love or hate Philippe Starck. This is often the case and there are no half-measures. The Wendy Wright chair however is rare in that it contradicts this state of affairs. Wendy Wright chairs are radical; there is nothing more to add. A circle, a square and that’s all there is to it. Here the designer’s strength is obvious beyond any intellectual discourse that can be pervasive at times. Words are not required as the object speaks for itself. Like in the novel Ubik, Wendy Wright is deemed irresistible, perhaps the source of this radical slick and beautiful form that is almost bereft of detail.
